  • Progress on All Fronts

    10:24pm

Just a quick note to say all is going well.

Brenda is recovering very well, and looks fantastic. Looking at her now it’s hard to believe she gave birth to twins just over a week ago. Her energy is mostly back, she’s getting sleep (probably not enough, but enough to get by for now), and she’s almost totally off of the pain medication. Her incision looks amazing, and it’s clear the doctor is very good at what she does. It’s really quite impressive and you can tell it will heal and barley leave a line.

The boys are doing well and just doing what they do. Sleep, poop, pee, eat then repeat. We’re still giving them formula at some feedings and breast milk at others while we try to figure out what will work for the long haul. Making enough breast milk for two growing boys is no easy task, but I’m very proud of how diligent Brenda has been at making progress in this area. It’s very important to her.

I will be going back to work starting Monday for half days, and then full days the week after. For me half days is 10am to about 6pm. That will still give me some time at home, and I’ll continue to take care of one of the boys overnight feedings until it’s not needed anymore.

We’ve had more days alone at the house then we expected we could handle, and it’s been nice being a small little family. The help is awesome and I don’t know how we could have done it without the help, but having these quite moments alone feels good, and I think we both feel better that we’re able to do this alone even if it’s just for a few days at a time. I’m finally getting back to email and some small work related things in preparation for returning next week.

    So that’s it for now!

  • Andrew and Max Debut Video

    Andrew and Max Debut Video

This is not my best work considering I edit videos for a living, but for any editors watching I used iMovie. Enough said. I’m also not the best camera person, so just look past the jerky moves.

If you can deal with those two problems, then you’ll enjoy the little moments we shared in the last week or so. They’re awesome boys and we’re thrilled to have them!

You will need quicktime installed on your machine to view this. For most people the default MEDIUM quality should play fine over the web, but if it doesn’t because you have a slow connection try the MOBILE version instead.

    Hope you enjoy it!

  • Baby Shower Video Presentation

    Baby Shower Video Presentation

As part of our shower in December, Toni created a video that she played for everybody attending. Since we’ve made our career making videos for other people, it was especially nice to have somebody make a video for us. We were both very touched and I asked Toni if I could have a copy of it. I thought I would also post it here for others to see who were unable to attend the shower in Chicago. Brenda can’t watch the video without getting emotional. Thanks Toni!

  • First Pediatrician Visit

On Monday (yesterday) the boys had their first visit to the doctor for a checkup. They both had gained a little weight since Friday when they checked out of the hospital, and everything else with them checked out perfectly.

It was good for Mom and Dad because we were able to get a lot of questions answered by the doctor while we were there, so we were assured that we were doing the right things.

The boys were really good at taking the trip too, and didn’t really cry during the trip or even during the exams. So our first trip out of the house was a successful one!
