On Monday I took Max to see the pediatric eye specialist to verify that he needs some help. The visit was a long one for him (over 2.5 hours) but overall he did very well and didn’t cry too much until the end when he was getting fitted with glasses. But even then he took it all pretty well.
The doctor dilated his eyes and was able to confirm that there was a fairly large focal difference between the two eyes. The large difference between them is more of the concern then the actual vision problem, since babies of his age are often farsighted. His tests show that Max is about a +3 in one eye, and a +6.5 in the other.
So… he does need glasses, which we have already ordered. They’ll be in this weekend – and then the struggle to keep them on his face will begin.
