Sydney had her very first on-stage performance this week. Tuesday was her “Fall Program” at Kensington Schools in Wheaton.
While all parents are certainly biased toward their own kids, I can say with confidence that she was the best singer, best performer and loudest person on stage bar none! I was so so proud of her. She showed nothing but confidence and pride and was so excited to see Max and Andrew sitting in the second row right in front of her on the stage.
I love my baby girl!
This year more than any other year in the past I really liked all of the kids costumes, and they were all very excited about wearing them. We had a Princess (she was just dressed as herself), a cowboy and Iron Man.
We were heading out to a Halloween party and before they trashed what they were wearing I thought it was a great time to get some photos.
Here are a few photos and the rest are on SmugMug.
I also tried something different and exported a slideshow movie this time. The kids love watching it.
On Tuesday I was fortunate to be part of a Breast Cancer Awareness event at Halas Hall, the Chicago Bears Training Camp in Lake Forest IL.
The event was called P&G Best Defense Day of Action.
I was there to edit together a b-roll package of the days events for the local news channels to use on the evening news that same day.
Basically there was a camera crew running around all day shooting what was going on (some of it was not for the b-roll package, but for internal use later) and about every hour or so I would grab the P2 card from them and copy over the footage. I was editing the footage just after it was shot, with the goal to have everything done and out the door by 6pm.
Before I got going I had some time to walk around and take some photos. While I’m not much of a sports fan, it was exciting being there.
There are a few more photos on SmugMug. All of the photos were taken with my iPhone since it didn’t occur to me to bring my 5D. As they say, the best camera for the job is the one you have with you!
I’m Editing on-site in Chicago today, and tomorrow in Forrest Park. It’s always great coming to the city especially on a nice day.
What is amazing to me is how much the edit system itself has changed over the years.
Back in 2004, this is what my edit system looked like in Hong Kong. So not only was it a lot of gear, but it was taken half way around the globe.
And today, almost 10 years later, this is what it looks like.
Instead of 4-5 cases ranging from 70-110 lbs, I have a single case that weighs about 30 lbs. And it does everything the old system did and more, but it also does it faster.
