    Maximus vs The Pencil

    At 2:30 today I was the fortunate recipient of a phone call from the nurse at Lowell Elementary in Wheaton, telling me that Max got the bad end of a fight with a pencil. He had stuck a pencil into his ear canal and when he pulled it out it was pretty bloody.

    My guess is he was trying to scratch an itch inside his ear since he does have ear wax issues but he never did give me a straight answer.

    I left work and picked him (and Andrew) up an hour after the call and took him to the pediatrician where he confirmed that his ear drum was just fine but he dug a nice gouge into his canal.

    So he’s just fine but maybe we will clean his ears a bit more often now.

    Pure joy these kids are. They are just so fascinating and entertaining to watch.

    They are so well brainwashed that they’re excited about peas and cucumbers. Literally, excited! You would think it was a happy meal.

  • Sydney’s First Dentist Appointment

    Sydney’s First Dentist Appointment

    Not to be left out, Sydney had her first dentist appointment this past Saturday with mom (photos by mom) while Dad was running errands with the boys.

    I know we’re late to the party on this one. Our kids have not been brushing daily and even though they’re 4 and 6 years old they’ve never had a checkup. We always planned on it but never got around to it. It was always just one more thing out of reach of our schedules. Finally, because we were prompted by the school, we got around to it.

    This past weekend the boys both had their checkup and next Saturday Sydney will have hers.

    Both boys were amazing. Max was more nervous than Andrew, but they both went through it like champs. The biggest issue with Max was that he kept wanting to taste everything they put in his mouth. He even ate all of the fluoride that they normally have to suction out. The two visits back to back were close to 2 hours after all of the paperwork and everything was done and Sydney was great at patiently waiting in the lobby with Mom (mom was very patient as well).

    In the end, they both had perfect teeth without any cavities. Given how little sugar they have in their diet, I wasn’t surprised.
