One-On-One With Andrew
On Friday I decided to take Andrew with me to run some errands and to get a haircut with me. The haircut didn’t work out so much (he started throwing a fit) but the rest of the day was great. We walked around downtown for a bit, sat outside and had a snack together, went […]
Done At Last!
To say a weight is lifted off my shoulder having finally finished this would be an understatement. It took around 15 hours over 3 weeks (whenever I could get out there even for just an hour). Thank you Brenda for letting me finish it yesterday while you battled the twins alone!
Just maybe I WILL get it done this year!
It’s been about 10 hours over 3 weeks, but it’s finally starting to look like something. I think a couple more hours and I’ll be done. I’m almost out of parts! So much for the estimated 6 hours for assembly.
Once Was Enough!
I’m not sorry I did it, and maybe at some date down the road I’ll try it again, but I feel no hurry to repeat my skydiving experience. From the point of view of just knowing that you can do it, it was a very powerful thing to do. It was not all that long […]
Sydney’s Debut Video
It took nearly a year for this to see reality, but here it is, Sydney Tomchak’s first video. This time shot and edited by Brenda, and get this…. it was done entirely on her iPhone! She would shoot footage along the way, add photos here and there, and just edit a shot or two as […]
New Book: Programming in Objective-C 2.0
I might be taking a 5 day class at the end of October on iPhone programming, and this book will do a good job getting me ready for the class. One of the best things about buying Kindle books is that you literally have the book within seconds of buying it, without having to spend […]
Playset, Day 1
After my failed attempt at Skydiving, I spent about 3 hours working on the kids new playset. And after 3 hours, I only have a few more pieces to go!
A Beautiful Day to Fly, But…
… a bit too windy. Everything was looking great on the way out today, and our small group was excited. Just walking into the hanger I felt exhilarated and felt like this might be a place i start seeing on a regular basis. We walked up the counter and filled up what must have been […]
A Fading Relic
The Ford/Wyoming Drive-In opened in 1950 in the heyday of drive-in movie theaters. At it’s peak in 1958, there were around 4000 drive-in’s in the US, many with multiple screens. Today there are less than 400 left in operation. The Ford/Wyoming Theater (renamed just “The Ford” in 2010 after closing the extra screens 6-9 on […]
Coming Soon to a Backyard in Wheaton
Thanks to a generous donation from Grandma and Grandpa Tomchak, a new playground set will be arriving soon at the Tomchak household. And I’m sure, it will only take a few minutes for dad to setup!
