Our baby girl turns 6 today! My how the time flies. Seems like only yesterday that the best surprise of our lives arrived and I fell madly in love with her.
This is her original birthday announcement from 2009.

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to speak to a new round of graduates from the school that helped me start my career as a video editor. It was back in 1988 that I was a bright eyed graduate of Specs Howard School of Media Arts.
I have given few speeches in my life but I really wanted to do this. After being in this business so many years and receiving help from many along the way, it feels like I should be giving back when possible. I would not be where I am today if it were not for the direct and indirect generosity of others.
While I asked for my speech to be recorded for the purpose of critiquing myself, it came out better than my nightmares led me to believe it would. So I share it here as well, all 8 minutes of it.
The kids recently spent some of their hard earned allowance on a few small toys from Walgreens. And because they’ve seen so many “unboxing” videos on youtube, they wanted to make one of their own. While their ramblings when on for a total of just over 30 minutes, this 8 minute video captures the best of it. Believe me, there’s nothing missed by not seeing what didn’t make the final video.
While continuing the journey to become totally paperless (a journey started 5 years ago) I ran across this original posting that led to my first job in the industry. It was a nice flashback. Thanks GTN! I can’t imagine a better foundation for my career.
