  • Just Waiting for the Pediatrician

One thing I love about this new camera I have is that it’s very small and just fits in my coat pocket. Because of that, I’m more likely to take it with me to more places. So while waiting for the doctor to come into the room to check them out we had some fun with them.

Andrew is just waiting to be loaded into the car. I just couldn’t help but pick up the video camera when I noticed how cute and calm he was just sitting there.

  • The 1 Month Pediatric Visit

Today the boys had their 1 month visit and all went very well. They checked out great, and both gained plenty of weight in their first 4 weeks here. I could feel a big difference just carrying them from the car!  Andrew now weighs 8lbs 9 oz, and Max weighs 7 lbs 11 oz.

The doctor was nice and allowed me to do some video recording today (much more then anybody other then a parent would want to see) and I’ll try to post a small clip of that in the next week or so.

They were pretty funny together on the table with their flailing arms smacking each other.  They both behaved very well and hardly cried through the whole ordeal. So all in all it was a nice family trip this morning.

  • 1 Month Old Tomorrow!

It’s been 4 weeks since the boys were born. In a way it seems like we’ve known them forever, and it’s actually hard to remember life without them.

Except for a minor bout with Oral Thrush, they’ve done very well. The last time I took Max in they weighed him, and he’s up to 7.4 lbs already. I’m sure Andrew has gained at least as much given how much heavier he is.

They’re still giving us problems sleeping at night. Now it can be both of them, not just Max. They just seem to need more attention in the evening and over night, and don’t really want to sleep. Even as I type this now Max is giving me is crazy eye look while frantically waving his hands. For me the nights have not been so bad because Brenda is doing all of the overnight work so that I can get up early and get to work. But that’s really starting to take a toll on her. On the weekends I do more to help out with the overnight, but that still leaves 5 days in a row for her.

This week we’re going to be interviewing some Nannies that are being pre-screened by an agency for us. That should make the search a lot quicker and we hope to have somebody here within 2 weeks or so, but it’s too early to say. For now Brenda’s mom Jane and her sister Toni are switching off days during the week to help out as much as they can. But we know this is not a long term solution.

Brenda has been doing very well given all that she has taken on this week. This is the first week that she had several days in a row with the boys by herself, as well as doing the overnight by herself. By the end of the week she was pretty beat but held it together just fine. Not that I ever had any doubt, but she’s really a great mom and the boys are very lucky to have her.

This was my first week back to the office full time, and all went well. Although I wouldn’t mind staying home with the boys 24/7, I didn’t mind going back either. The 4 weeks off was very good for me, even if it did leave a mountain of work to come back to. I feel like my head is in a better place now then it was when I left.

Bridget (Brenda’s twin) came over with her daughter Emily this week, and she finally got to meet “the babies”.
