    Baby Shower Video Presentation

As part of our shower in December, Toni created a video that she played for everybody attending. Since we’ve made our career making videos for other people, it was especially nice to have somebody make a video for us. We were both very touched and I asked Toni if I could have a copy of it. I thought I would also post it here for others to see who were unable to attend the shower in Chicago. Brenda can’t watch the video without getting emotional. Thanks Toni!

  • First Pediatrician Visit

On Monday (yesterday) the boys had their first visit to the doctor for a checkup. They both had gained a little weight since Friday when they checked out of the hospital, and everything else with them checked out perfectly.

It was good for Mom and Dad because we were able to get a lot of questions answered by the doctor while we were there, so we were assured that we were doing the right things.

The boys were really good at taking the trip too, and didn’t really cry during the trip or even during the exams. So our first trip out of the house was a successful one!

I added a few new photos from yesterday and today. The new ones are toward the bottom of the page, where you can see the two of them together.

  • fatigue |fəˈtēg| – noun

    9:45 am
    1. extreme tiredness, typically resulting from mental or physical exertion or illness : he was nearly dead with fatigue from taking care of Max and Andrew.

I thought working 16 hour days was rough, but this is MUCH harder. At least when I worked a long day I got a few solid hours of sleep in a row before I went back. Now, I’m lucky to get 2 or 3 before I’m up for another 2 or 3.

We both decided to “pick a baby” for the overnight periods. I took Max because he is a lot slower at eating, thus giving Brenda Andrew who can polish off a bottle in 10-15 minutes, and is then ready for sleep. I want her to get as much rest as possible during her recovery period, and while I’m still home.

But lately, Max seems to love the night life. Once he’s fed (which can take over an hour) he doesn’t want to sleep and if you’re not holding him or talking to him or holding his pacifier in his mouth so it doesn’t fall out, he cries. So, it’s actually possible for him to be awake from one feeding to the next – and then you start the process all over again before you got a second of sleep!

And during the day, it’s the complete opposite. Give him a bottle and when he’s done with it he’s sound asleep.

I no longer know what time of the day it is, let alone what day of the week. More later today with some new photos, and maybe even a short video clip.

  • I want to be a “Mr. Mom”

    8:15 pm

While we’re still not in a schedule as much as we want to be, it is getting better for sure. I’m starting to feel like we might actually be able to do this. If we can just make it through the first 3 months I think we’ll be fine. Getting up several times a night was not as bad as I expected, but then again I’m not working and I was able to sleep until 10am this morning.

It’s so much fun just watching them, feeding them and dressing them, I can really see trading in my job for this at times. You can even see small personality differences already, and I can tell these boys will be distinctly different as they grow up.

I have one more week off of work, but if I’m not scheduled on anything I might take an additional week.  I just can’t get enough of them!
