Andrew Classroom Photos

This year I am the official volunteer photographer for Andrews Kindergarden class. I will be shooting photos throughout the school year (probably once a month) that will be used for the yearbook. I didn’t even realize that there was a yearbook for elementary school!

I went in for the first time about a week ago and just loved the experience. The kids were all so well behaved and adorable. I watched them go through their morning routine of coloring, hearing morning announcements (some by one of the students which was really cute), the Pledge of Allegiance and a few songs they sing as a group to get the day started. There’s something about being back in a elementary school that just takes you all the way back to when you were there. It was pretty amazing. I couldn’t stop smiling the entire time I was there.

My usual go-to lens is a 24-105/4.0 lens because it covers just about everything I need. However it’s not a very fast lens, and I wanted to push myself to physically move closer or further away to get the shot that I wanted. So instead I used a 85mm/1.4 prime lens and am very happy with the results. This is a very inexpensive lens but really captures great images.

As much as I would love to share all of the photos (I had several really great ones) I can really only share the couple that I have of Andrew and one that you can’t see any faces in. Many parents are sensitive about photos of their children, especially on the internet and I want to respect that. However, I’m perfectly willing to exploit my own children!

I’m really looking forward to doing this throughout the year.
